Profile

I registered the name SEOMike on WebmasterWorld in 2003. I've been quite flattered by other people copying my name, but at the same time, wish they could come up with their own names. Remember, I'm the original SEOMike.

I’ve been doing SEO since 1997. I found myself among the Founding Fathers of this industry. My first company straight out of high school was designing and implementing computer networks for small businesses and building computers and servers to meet their needs. The internet was pretty new at the time and a couple of my clients asked me "What's this internet thing and how do I get on there?" my answer was, "Well, the internet is the future. I'll figure out how to make you a website." I developed very simple late 90's style websites for them. Their next question was: "How do I use this website to get new customers?" Again I said "I don’t know. I’ll figure it out." From there I started looking at terms I thought would be high competition on the search engines of the time and through trial and error I figured out how those sites were getting the top spots.
I've led marketing campaigns for over 400 websites including more notable clients like Wal-Mart, Bayer, Thrifty Car Rental and more. I’ve sold everything from diamonds to dating services, nuts and bolts to refrigerators. You name it, I’ve probably marketed it.
