Profile

Ran my first marathon in 1976, the first ultra-marathon in 1978, and the first ultra-distance mountain trail race in 1982. Though I've entered the "Older than Dirt" category, I'm still running these races.

I'm the former Editorial Consultant on Endurance Training for Weider's "Sports Fitness," and "Men's Fitness," magazines, Professor of Biomedical Communications at The University of Texas Health Science Center, and former vice-President of Super Nautilus Sports Training Centers of Houston.

I've written three books on ultra-running and marathon training.
