Profile

I joined the Open Directory Project in July 1999. My first category was Regional/ US/ Alaska/ Travel_and_Tourism/ Fairbanks/.

I love computers, e-mail, reading, photography, cycling and horseback riding. I'm learning to design webpages and make computer graphics with Paint Shop Pro for family, friends, and my own pleasure.

I purchased my own domain name, pamelajoy.com, inspired by my login name at the Open Directory. Pamelajoy.com launched in July, 2001.

I've lived in Alaska most of my life. While my father was stationed at Ft. Richardson, Alaska, our family lived in Anchorage for four years. After I graduated, I moved to Fairbanks, and I've lived here ever since.

During the summer, the Alaska interior is perfect for flying. Visibility is over 100 miles, no smog, no haze. When I was 21 yo, I received my pilot's license in a Cessna 140B. I've also flown a Piper Supercub, Tripacer, Cherokee 140, Cessna 150, 170B, 180, 185, and a 337 (although I didn't get my twin rating before we sold the plane), and I flew inverted in a Globe Swift.

During the winter, I enjoy photography, swimming and watching Big Ten college basketball. Indiana University competed in the Great Alaskan Shootout in 2001.
