H e l l o ! I have been a happy volunteer editor since October 2000. My current editing frequency: once or twice a week, due to outside interests in "real life." So far, I've spent much of my time here helping to build up some underdeveloped categories as well as create several new ones from scratch; those are most of the smaller categories above. It's more work than those few listings look like, but it really is rewarding to see a new category come together. For non-editors, what exactly do we do here? To boil it down, editors review and categorize site submissions, develop and implement proposals for category restructures, and search for and add new sites. At this point, I'm the kind of editor who has taken over a bunch of interesting pet categories, to clean them up and expand them. Actually, you can tell a little *too* much about me from the topics I edit. If you ask me, the Open Directory Project is a great way to spend some free time.
