Profile

My background is rather eclectic. When I was a little tyke back in the 60's my parents were rock collectors. We spent our weekends going into the deserts of Southern California to collect rocks. Later, after my dad retired from aero-space they started a lapidary store and I learned to cut up the rocks that we had collected years before. In college I studied oil exploration and have a geological-engineering degree. The oil-glut forced me to reconsider my career options and I chose computers just in time to catch the PC boom. Eventually I've washed ashore as a business analyst for a financial services firm.

I was raised a Catholic but somehow I managed to encounter an enlightenment teacher Frederick Lenz (aka: Rama) who got me started in the practice of meditation. Rama taught me that life should be lived, in the moment, and that spiritual practice is how you live each day. And he also taught me not to take anything too seriously, especially myself.

I love scuba diving, karate, mountaineering, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes and other 'oh what have I done now?' sports. Unfortunately, my commitments don't seem to let me do those things anymore. In lieu of those sports I'm taking up editing sites for the ODP.
