Much of my 20 years of freelancing has been for a few dozen magazines (mostly trade journals) and client projects (corporate communications). As a writer, I have penned but a handful of books - The Art of Jack Kirby, A Companion to Rare Coin Collecting, Conversations With Jack, and Tales from the American Civil War. I have also written a few stories for television (all for the Star Trek franchise) and a few screenplays (who hasn't). I play the tuba (I rip on "Innagoddadivda") and trombone. I'm working on violin, but egad that's a tough one! I collect comic books (still) and SciFi pulps (a rare Virgil Finlay fan). I play Legos with my kids, do the laundry with my wife, and still have time to sit out in the backyard and watch the trees.
I salute all those who embrace the Sisyphean toil of writing. "Heavypen" is a state of mind, not of being.
