Profile

I started out as a police officer even before I was old enough to buy bullets. After several years in local law enforcement, I rose through the ranks at the law enforcement division of a major U.S. space-related installation. I left law enforcement to join the faculty of a state university in Florida, where I stayed ten years. For the last 18 years, some or all of my work function has involved designing and developing databases and database-related software.

I have had several articles published in computer magazines, and at one time co-hosted a local television program. I have been interviewed and quoted by many local newspapers on the issue of police RADAR safety, and have been interviewed by 60 Minutes for background material (off-camera).

My hobbies are varied: I've done exensive genealogical research (over 12,000 individuals in my database) and have published a book and a large Web site related to my ancestry; I created and operate a small Web-based fine arts prints and oil paintings business; I founded a charity and am the current Executive Director; I am building a home theatre in the basement; and, after several years, Total Annihilation remains my favorite computer game.

And I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.
