News
Activity in News has been steady, with most of the energies directed towards improving this content-rich category. The News forum has been typically quiet, with the main attention focused on concluding a year-long debate that helped define distinctions for Services, Syndicates and NewsFeeds. There was again some exchange about Online Archives, providing some food for thought as a possible future project.
Several editors have also come aboard in the past months to edit in News. Welcome to bmwood, coxy, meskew, and powderchase. Their combined efforts now help cover the areas of Californian Newspapers, Media Photographers, Snow and Ski Forecasts, and Employment_and_Income. Indeed meskew’s work on sub-categories to Employment_and_Income won special attention with a Mozzie nomination for "Best New Category".
The number of unreviewed in News, typically among the lowest in the ODP, has been steadily growing. To help pique interest, 15 suggestions have been added to Test/Help Wanted/News. This is believed to be the first time the tally for Help Wanted/News has risen above two.
Editors with an interest in news, or looking for an editing challenge, are encouraged to swing by and take a look at the range of possible topics up for adoption.
