Crossville is the county seat of Cumberland County. It lies roughly mid-way between Knoxville and Nashville on I-40 in the middle of the Tennessee portion of the Cumberland Plateau. Crossville is ringed with resorts and parks offering an unusual number of golf courses -- a good indication that tourism is a primary business activity. Other businesses include publishing, manufacturers of ceramic tile, office supplies, and rubber products, a bakery, cannery, wineries, and an outlet mall. The economy is diverse and solid.
