It is not a requirement that the organization be federated with the College Republican National Committee provided it has the recognition of the local Republican Party unit as the official Republican student organization at the educational institution in question.

Founded in 1892, the College Republican National Committee oversees the largest system of student organizations in the United States and is a recognized auxiliary of the Republican National Committee. College Republican clubs recruit students to become Republicans, promote Republican ideals on campus, and assist local Republican Party organizations. College Republicans are represented at nearly 1000 college and university campuses.
