Marks Corner is the most important hamlet of an area of scattered dwellings between Gurnard and Northwood to the east and Porchfield to the west, extending from Parkhurst Forest in the south northward to the coast. Hamlets in the area include Great Thorness, Hillis Corner and Rew Street.
