Founded in 1989 as Karlskrona-Ronneby Tekniska Högskola, the Institute got the right to award PhD degrees in technology in 1999. There are three campuses, in Karlskrona, Karlshamn and the main campus in Ronneby. The education is mainly geered towards technological subjects, but there are also programmes in social sciences, the humanities and natural sciences.
Chalmers University of Technology is located in the center of Göteborg on the west coast of Sweden. It was founded in 1829 following a donation by William Chalmers.

Örebro University was formed in 1977. In addition to Örebro city, it also has campuses in Karlskoga, Grythyttan, and Kopparberg. Areas of research and education include behavioural and social sciences, clinical medicine, economics, humanities, technology and culinary arts.
SLU comprises four faculties: Forest sciences, Natural resources and agricultural sciences, Veterinary medicine and animal science, and Landscape planning, horticulture and agricultural bioscience. The university is located in four main campus areas around Sweden: Uppsala, Skara, Alnarp (Skåne) and Umeå, and in addition they keep a number of research farms and units. SLU has the only veterinary education in Sweden.
University College of Borås consists of six academic schools, and is one of more than a dozen university colleges established since 1977 with the aim of decentralising higher education in Sweden.
Uppsala University, founded in 1477 as an institute for theological studies, is located in the city of Uppsala, the capital of medieval Sweden and still the home of the Church of Sweden.
