Please submit only sites relating to American Cocker Spaniels. English Cockers have their own category. The American Cocker Spaniel category is broken down in to a number of sub-categories: breeders, clubs, pets, and rescue.

The only sites that belong directly in the main American Cocker Spaniel category are sites that are general in nature and do not fit in to any of the sub-category topics.

Submitting your site does not automatically guarantee it will be included in the directory. Each submitted site is reviewed by the category editor to determine if it is appropriate to this category and to ensure that it offers a wealth of content. Sites consisting of only one page are frowned upon. We encourage sites that are rich in content.

This category is for all sites related to American Cocker Spaniels. Please note that English Cocker Spaniels are listed in a different category. The American Cocker Spaniel category is broken down in to a number of sub-categories: breeders, clubs, pets, and rescue. The only sites that belong directly in the main American Cocker Spaniel category are sites that are general in nature and do not fit in to any of the sub-category topics. Please submit only sites dealing with Golden Retrievers in this category.
The Golden Retriever was developed as a waterfowl and game dog in the 19th Century. Hunters in the northern areas of England and Scotland needed a large strong dog that had intelligence, an affinity for the water, the will to work, and a soft mouth for retrieving. The Golden Retriever is symmetrical in appearance. It is a powerful, eager, and active dog with a kindly expression. It is alert, cheerful, and self-confident. The untemperamental Golden likes everyone and so is not usually used for guarding. However, it is a very popular guide dog for the disabled. The breed is gentle, sensitive, responsive, and good with children.

Please submit sites that deal with Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers.
What's a Toller? "The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is highly intelligent, easy to train and has great endurance. A strong and able swimmer, he is a natural and tenacious retriever on land and from water, setting himself for springy action the moment the slightest indication is given that retrieving is required. His strong retrieving desire and playfulness are qualities essential to his tolling ability. The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever was developed in Nova Scotia in the early 19th Century to toll (or lure) and retrieve waterfowl. The tolling dog runs, jumps and plays along the shoreline in full view of flock of ducks, occasionally disappearing from sight and then quickly reappearing, aided by the hunter, who throws small sticks or a ball for the dog. The dog's playful actions arouse the curiosity of the ducks swimming offshore and they are lured within gunshot range. The Toller is subsequently sent out to retrieve the dead or wounded birds."

Please submit only those sites that are Pointer (Also known as ''English Pointer'') - NO GSP''s or other breeds to be listed.
Pointers, believed to be from Spain, were originally known as Spanish Pointers. These were a heavier-bodied dog than the Pointer we know today. These dogs appeared in Britain at the end of the War of Spanish Succession (1713), with British Army Officers bringing them back after the signing of the Peace of Utrect. Italian Pointers, which resembled the French Braque were introduced into England and crossed with the Spanish Pointer, producing the Pointer as we know it today. Pointers in America can be traced to the Civil War period and were probably brought to the new world by their masters. Considered one of the "flashiest" dogs in the Sporting (or Gundog)Group, the Pointer comes in several coat colors: liver (brown), black, orange or lemon (orange dogs have tan-ish markings with black noses and eye rims, lemons can have the same coat coloring but have flesh-colored noses and eyerims) with a white body color or solid colored. Tri-colored Pointers are seen less frequently. Unlike other short-coated pointing breeds, the Pointer has a long tail (not "docked" or cut shorter). As far as typical temperament, most Pointer breeders and owners will tell you that Pointers do not like to consider themselves dogs, but rather one of the family!
