The word Philosophy is taken from the Greek language, translated in English it says "Love for Wisdom". It is the study of the ultimate reality, causes, and principles underlying being and thinking.

Philosophy has many aspects and different manifestations according to the problems involved and the method of approach and emphasis used by the individual philosopher. In 1974 Matthew Lipman created Philosophy for Children (P4C) that elaborates on the natural inquisitiveness of children.

Topics in this category may include:

  • Metaphysics, which is the study of the ultimate nature of reality;
  • Epistemology, which is the investigation of the origin and limits of knowledge;
  • Ethics, which deals with morality and justice; and
  • Aesthetics, which is the study of beauty in the arts.

Information about specific disorders or illnesses should be submitted to the appropriate subcategory in Kids_and_Teens/Health/Conditions_and_Diseases.

Sites about emotional health topics, such as self-esteem, grief, or stress, should be suggested to Kids_and_Teens/Health/Emotional_Health_and_Wellbeing.

Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behaviour.

Psychologists are interested in why people behave in the ways that they do. This includes studying attitudes and social influences, individual differences, remembering and forgetting, the social and intellectual development of children, the psychology of atypical behaviour, biological approaches and the research methods needed to investigate human behaviour and mental processes.

This category is for sites about various religions and spiritual beliefs.
Please submit only sites of interest to and suitable for kids and teens. Before you submit, though, please note the following:

  • If any portion of your site contains profanity, obscenities, and/or sexually-explicit content, do not submit it to Kids and Teens. Submission could result a permanent ban from the whole directory.

  • Sites intended for a general audience may be accepted in Kids_and_Teens provided they are appropriate for individuals ages 18 and under.

  • Informational websites about transgender that are directed toward the interests and concerns of parents or other adults are not appropriate for this Kids_and_Teens category, but may be submitted to other areas of the Open Directory.

    Many young people take part in voluntary activities such as fundraising, helping others in the community, or assisting with environmental stewardship projects. These activities may be part of a group effort or done on an individual basis.

    Sites concerning community service organizations belong in Community Service, sites that provide guides for young volunteers belong in Guides, and sites providing volunteer opportunities or resources mainly for teens belong in Teens.
