Family Medicine is the medical specialty concerned with the total health care of the individual and family. Family Medicine encompasses all ages, both sexes, each organ system and every disease entity. It integrates the biological, clinical, and behavioral sciences. It takes into account not just individuals, but also the community in which they belong. Other names for Family Medicine are 'General Practice' or 'Primary Care'. Doctors who practise family medicine may be known as Family Doctors, Family Physicians, General Practitioners or Primary Care Physicians.
