Also known as chatbots, these are computer programs, web-based or not, with which one can hold a conversation. Some simulate artificial intelligence and many are humorous in nature.
Please submit sites here that are specifically about chat(ter)bots.
A.L.I.C.E. stands for Artificial Linguistic (Internet) Computer Entity. It is a project born out of the original Eliza chatbot; developed by Dr. Richard Wallace and furthered by many other people. There is now a non-standard XML-based AIML (Artificial Intelligence Markup Language) Internet architecture, which is also in development.
Please submit sites here that concern themselves with ALICE or support the AIML architecture.
Racter -- derived from "raconteur" -- is similar to the Eliza and ALICE programs; it simulates artificial intelligence and insanity. A program that interviews you, tells you stories and anecdotes.
