Most often the mini-series will be an adaptation of a popular novel ("The Thorn Birds"), or a depiction of people and/or events of an historical significance ("From the Earth to the Moon"). A mini-series usually consists of more than two but less than thirteen episodes (or parts), and is specifically made to air on television.
