One of the best English language films of the 1980's, with a fine performance by Vanessa Redgrave as the old-maid schoolmarm who lives in Wetherby, a small town in northeastern Yorkshire. With Ian Holm, Judi Dench, Stuart Wilson, and Suzanna Hamilton.
