Released in 1989 as a commemoration of Gundam's 10th anniversary, "Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket" is an classic One Year War side story OVA (Original Animated Video) which recounts a little known event near the end of One Year War in U.C. 0079. Directed by Fumihiko Takayama, "0080" features a touching story with sparkling character designs by Haruhiko Mikimoto (of Macross fame) and mechanic designs by Yutaka Izubuchi (Char's Counterattack). "0080" remains one of the best work in Gundam animation history.

Released between 1990-1991, "Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory" is an epic One Year War side story OVA (Original Animated Video) which recounts an important but little known event after the conclusion of One Year War which leads to the events in "Z Gundam" TV series. Directed by Takashi Imanishi, "0083" features fast-paced story and non-stop mecha combat actions with sparking mecha designs by Hajime Katoki (Gundam Sentinel, Endless Waltz), Yasushi Ishizu and Mika Akitaka (both from Gundam 0080 fame), and it remains one of the most popular Gundam OVA to date.
