Italy's national team is nicknamed the "Azzurri" ("blues"). They are one of the most successful teams in World Cup history, having won three (in 1934, 1938 and 1982). Only Brazil, with 4, has won more. They won the Olympic gold medal in 1936 and the European Championship in 1968.
