Youth Soccer Camp Category Description

This category contains information on youth soccer camps for boys and girls, beginner to advanced skills, field players and goalkeepers, intramural and travel teams.

Camp programs may use different teaching techniques. While the basics may be the same, the advanced skills and strategies taught may vary from program to program and even from camp to camp.

Residential camps are those where the participants attend camp, eat their meals, and sleep at the camp locations. Local participants may also attend these camps at reduced prices. Accommodations are included with the camp programs. Participants in these programs can reside anywhere in the world depending on how far they are willing to travel for their desired programs. Residential camps tend to be held at one or only a few locations. The location for these camps are not really a factor except to draw local participants.

Day camps are usually same day service, and are mainly targeted for local participants or those willing to travel each day to and from the camp. Camp programs that offer only day camps tend to offer more camps at more locations within a specific geographical area.

Half-day camps are usually for the younger players (ages 5-7) or beginners. They, too, are usually same day service, and are mainly targeted for local participants or those willing to travel each day to and from the camp. The availability of these types of camps varies from program to program. These camps are usually referred to as "micro soccer" or "mini camps".

US Youth Soccer is the largest member of the United Stated Soccer Federation, the governing body for soccer in the United States. It is a nationwide body of over 600,000 volunteers and administrators, and over 300,000 coaches, most of who also are volunteers and has over 3,000,000 registered youth players between the ages of five and nineteen. It is made up of 55 member State Associations; one in each state, and two in California, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.

Membership is divided into four regions, each with a Director elected to the board. The regions are essentially East (Region I), Midwest (Region II), South (Region III) and West (Region IV). Each State Association has a Board of Directors, elected by delegates from their member leagues, clubs or teams.
