The New England Whalers player in the old World Hockey Association, and became the Hartford Whalers when the team moved to the NHL in 1979. The team moved to North Carolina in 1997 and is now called the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Minnesota North Stars played in the NHL from 1967-1993, when the team moved to Dallas.
The Winnipeg Jets played in the WHA from 1972 until the 1979 merger with the NHL. The Jets played in the NHL until the franchise was relocated to Arizona in 1995 to become the Phoenix Coyotes. Sites here are dedicated to the WHA team, NHL team, or both, but they all share a love of the former team.
