The Southern Professional Hockey League has teams in the southeastern United States. In the 2003-2004 season, the league was known as WHA2, a minor league for the World Hockey Association. For a few months in the summer of 2004, the SPHL was known as the Eastern Hockey League and the Southern Hockey League.
