Cleveland is the former Kentucky Thoroughblades franchise. The San Jose Sharks (NHL) purchased the franchise in the summer of 2001 and relocated it to Cleveland to serve as the Sharks' AHL affiliate. As of June, the new franchise has not yet been named.
