Top: Society: Religion_and_Spirituality: Christianity: Evangelism

Submit your site here in the top level (Christianity/Evangelism) only if it does not clearly fit into one of the subcategories.

Sites opposing Christian evangelism belong in Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Opposing_Views/Christianity/Evangelists.

Sites and ministries proclaiming the Gospel message of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Christianity for Seekers

Please submit only sites that might help a reader find a satisfying Christian end to his or her spiritual search. Sites of a negative nature and sites that focus on theological debate or non-orthodox views should not be submitted to this category.

This category contains sites for people who are interested in learning about Christianity or seeing what it has to say regarding their own lives or problems. Sites listed here are meant to provide low-pressure introductions to the basics of Christianity, answer common questions or concerns, and address specific groups of people in a way that acknowledges the complexities involved in choosing a religious worldview.

Evangelistic Pages

Only sites that are evangelistic and maintained by individuals or families belong in this category.

Sites that are about evangelists should be submitted here.
Sites about Evangelistic Organizations should be submitted here.
Sites about missionaries should go here.
Sites about missionary organisations should go here.
And finally, sites that are about ministries that are not predominately evangelistic should go here.

For the purposes of this categorisation, a missionary is someone who ministers outside of his/her own culture or country. An evangelist works within his own culture or country.

If you submit your site in the wrong category, it probably won't get listed - and if it does, it may take some time. Please do your best to find the right category. As with all sites submitted to the Open Directory, your submission will not be listed if it lacks original content or is difficult to read.

This category contains sites created for non-Christian viewers with the purpose of converting them to Christianity.

Evangelists

If a site is about a person better described as a missionary than an evangelist, it should be submitted to Society: Religion and Spirituality: Christianity: Missions: Missionaries' Homepages.

Sites criticizing evangelists should not be submitted here. They belong in Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Opposing_Views/Christianity/Evangelists.

This category contains sites about individual evangelists. Sites criticizing evangelists are located in Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Opposing_Views/Christianity/Evangelists.

Organizations

Tips to get your site listed quickly

Submitting your web site to an incorrect category will slow the process of your site being added to the Open Directory. Take time to examine other listings in the category appropriate to your own and word your title and description similarly.

Before submitting your site to Evangelistic Organizations, please determine if your organization's web site is better placed in one of the following categories:

Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Christianity/Organizations/Ministries
or
Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Christianity/Missions

In addition, web sites about solo evangelists (and duos) belong in Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Christianity/Evangelism/Evangelists

Sites that won't be listed in this category

  • Undeveloped web sites
  • Sites about a single church or an individual's own "mission" work normally don't qualify as Evangelistic Organizations.
  • Additionally, an evangelistic organization usually has a board of directors. If you don't have a significant organizational structure, please submit your site to one of the ministry categories.

What we look for in an evangelistic organization

  • A fully developed web site.
  • A professional web site.
  • An organization with significant size and outreach.
  • Detailed information about the organization.
  • Contact information.
  • A higher level of accountability in the organization, including a Board of Directors.
  • A higher level of accountability may also include readily available audited financial information concerning the organization.

An editor will examine your web site and determine if you qualify before adding you to any category. Sites lacking in information and professional design may be interpreted as a "ministry" rather than an "organization" and are likely to be forwarded to another category, if listed at all.

Please submit a short, one or two sentence description of the evangelistic organization. Do not repeat the organization name in the description.

Large, established evangelistic organizations with a significant outreach proclaiming the Gospel message of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Resources

To be listed in this category, books must be free, in English, and related to evangelism.

Free books online about other Christian topics belong in Christianity: Books Online.

If you are selling Christian books, please submit your site to Christianity: Shopping: Booksellers instead, not here.

This category contains sites that provide information, training, advice, or products that help Christians to evangelize.

Web Evangelism

This category is primarily for those sites that assist Christians in evangelizing via the web. Instruction on how to evangelize through the internet, ideas for church or personal websites, web design help, resources for creating evangelistic messages on the web, and similar content can be found here.

Ministries and church sites (in general) should go to another area in ODP. However, particularly appropriate sub-pages of such sites may be found in this category.

Evangelistic pages aimed at non-Christians should be submitted to Evangelism/Evangelistic_Pages.
