Submit sites dealing with the theological and biblical rationale for evangelism, case studies, theory, and proposed application. These may deal with Gospel outreach on church-wide, congregational, small group, or individual levels, both official and unofficial. Include analysis of "target audiences" and their unique social, cultural, or religious status and how they can be addressed.

Practical Theology is the application of the other three theological disciplines (Exegetical, Systematic, and Historical), including pastoral theology, church polity, catechetics and education, homiletics, liturgics and hymnody, and ecclesiastical art and architecture.

Ecclesiastical Art

Ecclesiastical art is "church art." As such, it deals first with the ornamentation of churches and liturgical vestments. In a broader sense, it involves any visual arts having a religious theme.

Evangelism

Submit sites dealing with the theological and biblical rationale for evangelism, case studies, theory, and proposed application. These may deal with Gospel outreach on church-wide, congregational, small group, or individual levels, both official and unofficial. Include analysis of "target audiences" and their unique social, cultural, or religious status and how they can be addressed.

Evangelism translates as Gospelism or Good-Newsism. It is telling about Jesus and salvation from sins to those who do not know him and believe in him. The Christian Church especially speaks of evangelism in a domestic sense, often done informally by individual believers, or among those of a related culture or ethnic background. Organized efforts, especially outreach to different races, cultures, languages, or environments (such as university students) are often classified under Missions.

Homiletics

Homiletics is the part of theology dealing with preaching. It includes everything from the initial preparation to the actual delivery of the message. It involves more than just sermon and preacher, keeping in mind the season and day of the Church Year, special events, and also examines the audience, the physical and cultural environment, and the like.

Liturgy and Music

Submit sites that relate generally to Lutheran forms of worship, music, and hymns. Please submit to the respective subcategories those sites that deal uniquely with liturgics or hymnody.
Martin Luther said, "Music is an outstanding gift of God and next to theology."

The Lutheran Church has a history of liturgical worship. A structure to worship is one of the defining attributes of Lutheran worship forms. Music forms an integral part of the liturgical form of worship and is used in conjunction with the worship service as well as with hymns.

Martin Luther was a composer as well as a reformer and wrote a number of well known hymns such as A Mighty Fortress is Our God. The Lutheran church has quite rightly been called the "singing church".

Prayer

Submit sites dealing with the theology or practice of prayer and links to specific prayers.
Prayer helps and the Lutheran understanding of prayer. Complete collects, general prayers, prayer helps, the theology of prayer, and advice on individual, corporate, and partnered prayer are all part of the mix. While the doctrine may be considered under Systematic Theology, it is more convenient and intuitive to list it with the practical elements in one category.

Sermons

Please submit only sites that provide finished sermons, notes or outlines, or links to such resources.

This category contains links to sermon collections, individual homilies, notes, and outlines. Materials may be written or in internet audio formats.

Social Activism

Lutheran organizations, congregations, and individuals as proponents of social causes for the disenfranchised.
