| Sites submitted to this category on contemporary Catholic movements must offer information of national or international interest. |
This category is dedicated to movements in the Catholic Church today. These groups are not religious orders, and are often looser than organizations. Included are such groups as Catholic Worker, the charismatic renewal, Communion and Liberation, Cursillo, and the Community of Sant'Egidio.
The Catholic Worker Movement does not have official recognition from the Church, nor is the movement actively seeking it. It is best known for its "houses of hospitality" in the inner cities.
Cursillo (kur-SEE-yo) is a Christian renewal movement of the Catholic Church. Cursillo de Christianidad is the full name of cursillo and means a "short course" in Christianity.Cursillo weekends began on the Island of Mallorca, Spain, in August 1944. The Cursillo of January 7, 1949 is usually considered to be the first "approved" cursillo.
Cursillo's purpose is to equip and inspire Christian lay leaders to be servant leaders in their churches and to evangelize their environments (such as work, home, and community).
