The Renaissance is a breakpoint between Medieval and Modern thought, spanning (roughly) two and a half centuries from the year 1350 to the late 16th century.

Philosophers

Platonism

In the Renaissance there was a rediscovery of Platonic philosophy in the Western world. The Platonic Academy in Florence played a major role in this.

In the political philosophy of the Renaissance, realism was one of the major new developments.
