The Renaissance is a breakpoint between Medieval and Modern thought, spanning (roughly) two and a half centuries from the year 1350 to the late 16th century.

Philosophers

Philosophers who did their work primarily during the period known as the Renaissance or who are otherwise widely known as renaissance philosophers.

Platonism

In the Renaissance there was a rediscovery of Platonic philosophy in the Western world. The Platonic Academy in Florence played a major role in this.

Political Realism

In the political philosophy of the Renaissance, realism was one of the major new developments.
