The 'Aryan Invasion Theory', AIT, (also called Indo-European Invasion Theory, IET) is a name given to the dominant modern theory that Indo-European language and culture was brought to the Indian subcontinent by conquering invaders from the northwest. This subject has been the subject of much controversy, especially from the later 20th century onwards.
