Top: Science: Technology: Materials

Suppliers of products or services should submit their sites to to the Industrials Materials or the Testing Instrument and Supplies category.
Material science is concerned with understanding the properties of materials and how to create new ones.

Adhesives

This category is for those sites dealing with the research and development, technology and science of adhesives. It is NOT for Manufacturers, suppliers or distributors of finished product adhesives. Such sites should be submitted to the Business category, a link to which can be found in the products sub category.

Ceramics

This category is for sites dealing with the science and technology of ceramics.

Suppliers of products or services should submit their sites to an appropriate category in our Business section. Specific links to which can usually be found as an @linked sub category of this main category, or in the list of related categories.

Coatings

It is intended that this category caters to those who are involved in the development of coatings, so the focus would be more on the technical aspects. This should cover topics ranging from raw materials, application methods and perhaps even societies which are directly involved in this field.

Composites

This category is for sites dealing with the science and technology of composite materials.

Suppliers of products or services should submit their sites to an appropriate category in our Business section. Specific links to which can usually be found as an @linked sub category of this main category, or in the list of related categories

Geotechnical

This category lists articles, studies, lectures and similar sites, related to the materials used in the geotechnical industry.

Institutions

Please list companies that offer product and services to the appropriate subcategory.
The science institutions category includes academic departments, libraries and museums.

Polymers

This category is for sites dealing with the science and technology of polymers.

Suppliers of products or services should submit their sites to an appropriate category in our Business section. Specific links to which can usually be found as an @linked sub category of this main category, or in the list of related categories

A Polymer is a large molecule built up by the repetition of small, simple chemical units. Repetition can be linear, branched, cross-linked or dendritic. The repeat unit is usually equivalent to the monomer - the starting material from which the polymer is formed.

Plastics are one type of polymer These can be broken down into thermoplastics which can repeatedly follow a melt-freeze cycle, and thermosets, which set, or cure once during an irreversible chemical process during the manufacturing phase. Polypropylene, polyethylene and suchlike are thermoplastics, while most elastomers as well as hard plastics like Bakelite are thermosets.

Publications

Includes traditional print journals typically intended for professional audiences, printed magazines typically intended for a popular audience, books, scientific abstracts and a wide variety of electronic publications relating to the field of materials science. Most publications are listed under material-specific categories and this one is primarily for broad-scope publications.
