The family Monodontidae consists of two species; the Beluga (Delphinapterus leucas) also known as the White Whale, and the Narwhal (Monodon monoceros). The beluga or white whale, Delphinapterus leucas, is an Arctic and sub-Arctic species. It grows up to 5 meters in length.
The narwhal, Monodon monoceros, is a medium-sized toothed whale that lives in the Arctic. It is characterized by a long, straight, helical tusk extending from its upper left jaw.
