Wright Amendment

Please submit sites with information on, or advocating the repeal or retention of the Wright Amendment.
The Wright Amendment, named for Fort Worth congressman Jim Wright, was a 1979 law that restricted commercial air travel into and out of Dallas' Love Field airport. The measure, intended to protect the new Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, was repealed by a 2006 law, though some provisions will stay in place until 2014.

The amendment made it illegal for commercial flights with more than 56 seats to fly directly from Love Field to points beyond the four states surrounding Texas (an area expanded by later amendments to include Alabama, Kansas, Mississippi and Missouri).
