In the late 1940s, several DD hulls were converted to DDE classification (anti-submarine destroyer) and kept the same hull number (so DD-445 became DDE-445, for example). All of these hulls were reclassified as DD on 30 June 1962. The DDE hull classification is now an Inactive classification.
