Born on May 24, 1940 in Bristol, Connecticut, Burghoff is best known for his portrayal of the character Radar on the television series M*A*S*H. He is also a painter of wildlife, a conservationist, musician and animal-lover.

Gillette, William

Submissions must relate specifically to the life or work of William Gillette.
Actor and playwright William Gillette (1853-1937) is best known in the stage role of Sherlock Holmes. He built a 24-room castle overlooking the Connecticut River in Hadlyme in 1919 which today is a museum and state park.

Tucker, Sophie

Submissions must relate specifically to the life or work of Sophie Tucker.
Born Sophia Kalish in Russia in 1884, Sophie Tucker moved to Connecticut with her family, working in their restaurant, until she became a pianist, Vaudeville actress and vocalist. She died in 1966 and is buried in Wethersfield, Connecticut.

Cartoonist who created "Beetle Bailey" in 1950, "Hi and Lois" in 1954 (with Dik Browne), "Boner's Ark" in 1968 and "Sam & Silo" in 1977 (with Jerry Dumas). He founded the Museum of Cartoon Art in Rye Brook, New York which relocated to Boca Raton in Florida and renamed the International Museum of Cartoon Art.
