Agua Caliente Springs is a tiny community within the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, in the eastern part of San Diego County. It is so small that its businesses and residences use Julian CA 92036 as their mailing address, even though the town of Julian is about 20 miles away "as the crow flies" and about 30 miles away by highway. The area is known for its hot springs, which are the basis of the name Agua Caliente, Spanish for "hot water."
The city of Alameda is an island in San Francisco Bay, hence its nickname "the Island City". Known for its Victorian houses (median house age is pre-WWII); its longtime association with the Naval Air Station; its great diversity of languages spoken, views held, and lifestyles practiced; still, it's mainly known as a quiet, residential city, and a piece of small-town life in the middle of the SF bay area. A city ordinance passed in 1975 limited development, so many areas of the city seem frozen in time around 1973. The movie "Spirit of '76" which spoofed the 70's was filmed in Alameda.

The city is located on Interstate 680, approximately halfway between Danville, to the South, and Walnut Creek, to the North. Its population of approximately 12,000 has remained relatively stable due to limited real estate for expansion.

Located at the southern tip of San Francisco Bay, Alviso was an independent city from its incorporation in 1852 until it was annexed by San Jose in 1968. Established as a steamship port, its prosperity waned with the establishment of railroads in the 1860s.
