2   Q: Is Richmond Hill a part of Toronto?
A: No. Richmond Hill is considered to be part of the "Greater Toronto Area" which stretches from Hamilton in the Southwest to Ajax in the East. But it was not part of the 1999 amalgamation that created the Toronto city limits that we know today.

Richmond Hill does not actually share a border with Toronto. Portions of the towns of Markham and Vaughan intervene and keep Richmond Hill and Toronto a few miles apart.
