The title should be either the company's name or, where it seems more appropriate, that of the site itself -- and no more than this. In other words, phrases like "Welcome to ..." and "Your friendly/local ..." are both superfluous and destined for deletion. In turn, the Description should be free of personal pronouns and worded the way an observer and/or reviewer of the site would describe it and its content. Thus "Our mission is to serve your needs" needs altering to something like "Company's emphasis is on customer service." In effect, the title and description should simply let people know who's at the back of it and what information it contains or conveys.

Perhaps Niagara Falls has given way to the Caribbean and elsewhere as a longtime favourite honeymoon destination, but its scenic and man-made attractions still find an appeal with some ten million visitors each year. They come from all parts of North America as well as from innumerable countries abroad.

There are several categories in this section of the Open Directory, and each has its own Description. The pattern is the same one that applies to the several other Localities that make up the Niagara Region: as the number of sites increases, they are subdivided into groups that have an obviously -- or at least somewhat -- similar content.

Jurisdiction over a surrounding rural area is exercised by the City of Niagara Falls, and this includes the community of Chippawa, which has its own Localities category.

Business and Economy

This category indexes a miscellany of businesses, some of them highly specialized in nature. It also separates three groups of similarly natured sites into subcategories --Computers, Real Estate, and Shopping -- which each has its own category Description.

Recreation and Sports

Although this category presently contains only a handful of sites, the intention is to index others that cover the range of local recreation organizations and activities.

Society and Culture

This category contains sites dealing with a diversity of philosophical approaches to life and a wide range of cultural activities. Although the applications can cover people in all manner of locations, the essential qualification -- and requirement -- for listing here is a Niagara Falls address.

Travel and Tourism

This category indexes sites that are of interest to the innumerable visitors to Niagara Falls. It lists several main sources of overall information and, in Attractions and Lodging subcategories, provides details of a more specific nature.
