Keats Island

Located in Howe Sound between Gibsons and Horseshoe bay. Bowen Island and Gambier Island are the largest of the neighboring islands.

Malcolm Island

Malcolm Island, about 300 kilometres north of Vancouver, has roughly 800 residents. The largest settlement, Sointula, was founded as a utopian commune in 1901 by a group of far-sighted Finns.

Mayne Island

Mayne has a permanent population of approximately 900, and its size is 21 square kilometres.

Pender Islands

While most people simply refer to Pender Island in the singular, in fact it is two islands (North Pender and South Pender). They are joined by a one-lane bridge that crosses the narrow canal dug in 1903 to benefit steamship travel through the Gulf Islands. The area of the two islands combined is about 34 square kilometres.

Pender Island is the second most populous of the southern Gulf Islands (which lie in the Strait of Georgia between British Columbia's lower mainland and Vancouver Island). Its permanent residents number about 2,000, made up of young families, young and old retirees, and a large number of business professionals who work in Victoria, Vancouver and farther afield - many telecommuting. In the summer, the island population doubles when seasonal residents and visitors arrive to cycle, hike, cruise, golf, fish or enjoy a peaceful retreat at one of the resorts or B&Bs.

Protection Island

Protection Island is located less than one mile from downtown Nanaimo.

Queen Charlotte Islands

The Queen Charlotte Islands contain British Columbia's 2nd and 3rd largest islands, Graham Island and Moresby Island at 6,361 sq km and 2,608 sq km respectivly.

Salt Spring Island

Over ten thousand people call Salt Spring Island – the largest and most populated of the Gulf Islands - home. Salt Spring has strong agricultural roots and is known for it’s vibrant artist community – the island hosts well known painters, sculptors and musicians. There is a strong tourism industry here – many islanders open their homes for Bed Breakfasts or seasonal vacation rentals. In the summer months the Saturday Market is a lively attraction drawing both artisans and tourists from afar.
