Featured in the Doomsday book and now incorporates the old Hamlet of Hinton. The village lies along Jurassic Way and is split by the River Cherwell (where it is not much more than a stream.) West Farndon, Woodford Halse and Hinton are known as Woodford-cum-Membris. The village expanded and became a major part of the rail network when Great Central Railway arrived in the 1900s.
