The London Borough of Redbridge is located in the north-east of London and its administrative headquarters is in Ilford. Known as the "leafy" suburb it boasts 1,200 acres of forest and 600 acres of green park land. Approximately a third of the borough is designated green belt and it has 13 conservation areas. The Red Bridge after which the borough is named, was the brick bridge over the River Roding. It symbolises the joining of the Municipal Borough of Ilford with Wanstead and Woodford.
