We generally do not accept submissions to this category - please submit them to a suitable subcategory - either a town category (preferred) or one of the general categories if your site is aimed at the whole county.

Only sites which are specifically about towns or villages which don't yet have their own categories should be submitted to this category - all other sites submitted here will be reviewed and then listed in a more appropriate category. Be warned though that submitting your site to the incorrect category could cause considerable delay to its listing.

The River Stort, which runs through the middle of Bishops Stortford, took its name from the town, predating any mention of a river by several hundred years. The arrival of the railway in Victorian times laid the foundation for its present importance as a market town and a favoured commuter area for the City of London, just 35 minutes away by rail.
