This category lists websites that apply to a broad region of Europe that cannot be placed under a single country or the whole of Europe.Regions are not necessarily exclusive of one another, there can be overlap as is the case with Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltics, and the Balkans.
This category lists websites with information that covers most or all of the Balkans, the south-eastern European peninsula, named after the Balkan mountains.
It includes the former Yugoslavia (Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Slovenia), and also Greece, Bulgaria, Albania, and Romania.
The European part of Turkey is part of this peninsula, and Cyprus is historically associated with one or more countries of it.

Please submit only sites that are for the whole region or a large part involving more than two countries here. Sites that are specific to one country should be submitted to a category within that country.
Please pick the most specific category possible.

This category is for sites and resources about the Baltic countries, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Please submit to the most appropriate geographic location. If your site relates to resources within one of the countries then submit it to that country. Submitting to the wrong category will delay your site's placement in the directory. Only submit sites which have an English section, submit sites which are entirely in Estonian to World/Eesti, site which are entirely in Latvian to World/Latviski and sites which are entirely in Lithuanian to World/Lietuvių. If you are submitting a multilingual site, please submit the entry page URL and provide a language choice on the entry page. The editor of this category may not be using the same operating system and or browser as you are, in fact it is very likely that he is not, so please ensure that your site works for other browsers and operating systems than your own before submitting here. If your site cannot be reviewed by the editor it cannot be added to the directory. Notice: Multiple submissions, repeat submissions, submission of mirror sites and similar techniques, with the intention of 'forcing' a higher placement on the directory are most unwelcome and unnecessary. Such behavior will almost certainly delay, if not completely prevent, your submission being listed. (See the ODP terms of service) The ODP is a directory edited by human volunteers, all submissions are reviewed and edited fairly, but this can take some time. |

This category is only for sites in the English language or with substantial English content. Submit sites in other languages to the appropriate category of World. If your site is relevant to one specific country, submit it to the category for that country. If relevant to one of the other regions submit to that region category. You will notice that few sites are accepted at this level. We highly recommend that you browse through the sub-categories and look for a more specific location in which to place your site. Submitting to the wrong category will delay your site's placement in the directory. more information (editors only) |
This category lists websites that focus on all or part of central and eastern Europe and that cannot logically be placed under a single country, one of the other regions or the whole of Europe. The terms "Central Europe" and "Eastern Europe" have had different geographic definitions through modern history, with changes in the geopolitical situation in Europe. Currently, the term "Central and Eastern Europe" is most widely used to refer to the European nations that had Communist or Soviet-influenced Socialist governments until the late 1980s and early 1990s. Included are several nations that were part of, or occupied by, the former Soviet Union (Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine, the Baltic countries - Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, and the countries of the Caucasus - Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan), Albania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, and the nations that were formerly part of Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, and Kosovo).
Note that this includes the Baltics and Caucasus regions and most of the Balkans region.
