Aizkraukle is one of the newest towns in Latvia. It first became town, in 1967, under that name of Stučka and then was renamed in 2001 to its current name.The town has a population of a little bit over 10, 000 people and is located about 90 km southeast of Riga.

Bauska became a town in 1609 AD and is almost 400 years old. The town, which is about 66 km from Riga, that nation's capital, is located in the southern part of Latvia. The economy is mainly agrarian.

Valmiera is the largest city in the Vidzeme region. The city is located about 100 km from the capital city of Riga in a northeasterly direction and situation along the Gauja river.Main industries include the food industry, fiberglass manufacturing, metalworking, wood processing and the making of furniture.
The town has an interesting history. The location where the city is now has been inhabited for approximately 9000 years. The actual town of Valmiera was founded around 1323. It was destroyed during the Great Northern War in 1702 and had to be rebuilt.
