Top: Reference: Quotations: Web_Rings
|
This category lists webrings that connect web sites with quotations. Definitions: See below The Open Directory is human-edited, fostering quality. Consequently, for a webring to fit in this category, there shall be a publicly available email address or other contact channel to its ringmaster/ringmistress, and some evident indication that the ring is actively monitored by a human. A web site, describing the nature and working as the 'home' of the webring, is an example of such an indication. |
DefinitionsA quotation is "a saying or piece of writing that strikes people as so true that they quote it (or allude to it) in speech or writing"
Tony Augarde in his preface to The Oxford Dictionary of Modern QuotationsA webring is "a collection of web pages arranged to form a circle by ring management software situated at a hub site. A uniform block of hypertext links appears on each page in the ring. It is through this interface that the hub connects the pages together to trace a circular path. Beginning at any page in the ring, a visitor can proceed through these links to visit every page in the ring, eventually returning to the page from which he started."
