James Madison University is a public comprehensive undergraduate university located in Harrisonburg, Virginia (Exit 245 off Interstate 81, viewable from the interstate). The institute was founded in 1908 as the Harrisonburg Normal and Industrial School for Women. Over the years the name evolved to the Harrisonburg Normal School, Madison College, and finally in 1977, James Madison University. Enrollment is 15,410.
