This category covers all aspects of the University of Louisiana located in the heart of Cajun Country. UL is the largest school in the UL System & and has a total enrollment around 17,000 students. The university features several active research parks, with numerous state & federal centers including National Wetlands; National Marine Fisheries; ACIM (robotics & virtual reality); Primate Center with over 3,500 specimens; and a large number of other high-tech initiatives.UL is a Doctoral II institution which has started selective admissions as of the Fall of '99. Doctoral programs include Environmental & Evolutionary Biology, Francophone Studies, Cognitive Sciences, English & Creative Writing, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, & Statistics.
UL is located in the heart of Acadiana which features eight local parishes with a population about 600,000. Lafayette located on I-10 and is two hours west of New Orleans & three hours east of Houston.
