For the listing of sites offering general information on Freshwater Invertebrates.
Triops (scientific names Triops longicaudatus and Triops cancriformis), also known as tadpole shrimp, are a freshwater crustacean in the class Branchiopoda that inhabit temporary pools, lakes, and ponds. They have remained unchanged since before the age of dinosaurs. They are close relatives of brine shrimp (sea monkeys). They look like tiny horseshoe crabs.
