This category houses sites that tell about the physical and biological characteristics of the polar regions, the lands and waters surrounding the south and north poles. It includes information on topography, climate, wildlife, and plant life in the Arctic and Antarctica.

Antarctic

This category lists sites about the Antarctic, the lands and waters surrounding the south pole. It includes listings on Antarctica -- earth's fifth largest continent (and one that doubles in size each winter) -- as well as sites that tell about the many Antarctic islands.

Arctic

This category lists sites about the Arctic, the lands and waters surrounding the north pole. The Arctic region is often defined as that area where the average temperature for the warmest month is below 10 degrees Celsius. It includes portions of Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Scandinavia, Siberia and Russia.
