Depression is a mental illness with many different negative feelings and thoughts. The difference between depression and the 'blues' is that depression can last for weeks or months.

Without treatment, kids can have eating or sleeping problems. They may have no energy, feel worthless, and get into trouble in school.

Working with a therapist to change negative thinking and make positive changes is recommended. Doctors also have medicines that can help improve symptoms.
