The term Baroque is applied to the late Renaissance period (1600-1750). Considered both a style and a period, the paintings reflect dramatic light and shade, turbulent composition and an exaggerated emotional expression. Some of the leading artists of the Baroque style include Caravaggio, Annibale Carracci and Gianlorenzo Bernini.
Cubism is a 20th century (1907-1914) art movement led by the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso and the French artist Georges Braque. The style is characterized by showing all sides of the subject matter producing a geometric feel.

Impressionist paintings often include short, broken brush strokes of pure, untinted and unmixed colors to give an appearance of spontaneity and vibrancy. Pop Art is an artistic movement developed in New York in the late 1960’s that is a rejection of abstract expressionism. Surrealism began as a 20th century movement and expresses the activities of the subconscious mind through fantastic imagery.
